ABOUT YOUR PRESIDENT
TJ NELSON
Junior Marketing Major

Over the course of my 3 years at SUU, I have been in several leadership positions and served the student body in a variety of ways.  For 2 years I have been a part of SUUSA in the retention process and most recently held the position of Event Director.  Aside from SUUSA, I have experience in recruiting for SUU as a member of the Presidential Ambassador Organization. My experience with programs both inside and outside of SUUSA give me support in making decisions that will improve student life.  Through my efforts, I have seen the great things SUU is currently doing and know how many of those things can be improved.
I believe your personal university experience can be more satisfying through your engagements outside of the classroom. Whether your involvement is an academic club, student government, or something that drives your interests, you should make it YOUR choice and be involved in YOUR way, and YOUR Party wants to help you in those endeavors.
For those of you who have been involved with the Freshman Board, you know it has amazing potential; however, it can become solidified by integrating transfer students and upper classmen who can complete assignments that will prepare them to serve in appointed and elected positions.  It is that potential and the potential of other organizations that we want to unfold at SUU.
YOUR Party has the experience necessary to host academic bowls, club fairs, parades, the Howl and other campus events. Through better marketing, technology, surveys and other means, we are capable of building a strong bridge of communication between students and faculty; allowing you to make a difference and be involved.

ABOUT YOUR CLUBS & STUDENT LEADERSHIP VP
HEIDI RENATE EYSSER
Senior Political Science Major

I will begin my Masters in Public Administration this coming fall.
My involvement here at SUU began as a freshman. I have been a part of SUUSA for 3 years; this year as Club Director Activity Specialist. I have been a part of a number of clubs and organizations; over time, several of those clubs have struggled and dissipated since.
With the drastic changes that were made this last year to the CSL branch, I would like to continue the great work that this administration has started and laid a solid foundation for.
My goals as CSL VP, with the support of administration are to help the University succeed in experiential learning but solidifying clubs and providing experience and research necessary for students to gain experience for their future professional success. For this to happen we must increase the value of clubs and organizations by strengthening leadership and evaluating clubs to help them reach their goals and retain students. Accreditation will validate and strengthen clubs.
Better integration and collaboration must occur between faculty, staff and students to ensure that clubs have the necessary support for their success.
Clubs need more socials to help increase support between other clubs, students, administration, the university and community in which we reside.
I want to see clubs become more self-sufficient and financially stable by more applicable merit money events and activities clubs sponsor to earn money.
More availability of marketing and advertisement tools for clubs to utilize will allow more students to get involved and reach a greater population of students.
Clubs and organizations are an essential and vial part of a students experience, without a functioning club/organization there is no involvement, therefore any experience. Involvement prepares students for future employment post graduation as well as life situations.

ABOUT YOUR ACADEMIC VP
LOGAN BUNKER
Sophomore Economics Major

My goal as the Academic Vice President would be to help bridge the gap between students, professors, and administrators. Here at SUU we have more than adequate resources designed to help students be successful in their studies and in their future careers. I will work to strengthen these programs and institutions, so they can be better utilized by students. I will work with the school's administration, and alumni to attract more businesses to career fairs. I will, in correlation, work with professors to better help students prepare for theses fairs and for finding careers.
The level of education we receive at SUU is outstanding, SUU students consistently scoring at the top of the nation in accredited nation tests. I feel that having the students of SUU participate in academic quiz bowls, would help the students apply the knowledge accumulated in their classes, build their resumes, and improve the name recognition of SUU.
SUU is an exceptional Institution, and I will work to improve the strengths, so that undergraduate and graduate students can optimize their time

ABOUT YOUR ACTIVITIES VP
DAN HERMANSEN
Junior Graphic Design

Our slogan in this campaign begins with 'YOUR school'. In my mind this means more than just a location to gain an education and receive a degree. SUU needs to be a place where every student has a place and a voice and can truly find themselves. I am entering my fifth year at SUU as a Pre-med/Biology Major. During my time here I've had the opportunity to participate in many on and off-campus events, many of which I've helped plan and carry out. My business partner and I are currently preparing our business plan to compete at the state entrepreneur competition thanks to the services provided by the college of business. I've won 'fan of the year' at SUU for the past two years because of my involvement in university events and my extravagant body paint jobs. I've learned the importance of getting involved in the university at more than just an educational level. While education remains the priority of this institution, it is the university's responsibility to provide a safe haven and a socially rich environment as well.
My goals as Activities VP are to raise student awareness of events and resources available to students both on and off-campus. To make SUU a place where students feel comfortable to mingle and make social and educational connections that can be carried on well after their time enrolled here. There are already so many programs and resources set in place to benefit the student population of which most students are unaware. I want to increase the voice of these organizations to reach out to those students who are searching for a connection with their university.
Another goal I have is to increase the coordination with and support of the community in university affairs. This university belongs to more than just the students enrolled, but to the entire city of Cedar City. As we increase the local support in university affairs we will see an increased interest and enthusiasm for student success. Attendance and school spirit will increase for sporting events, school competitions, internships, and the accomplishments of all those attending SUU.
This university and the educational experience you receive here depend on you. SUU houses one of the highest-ranking educations available in many of its colleges. There are activities, clubs, volunteer opportunities, internships, academic competitions, sporting events, tutoring centers, foreign language gatherings, convocations, extensive facilities, knowledgeable staff and much more available to every student. It is up to you to truly make this YOUR school and glean from it the most positive and enriching experience possible.

 ABOUT YOUR GRADUATE SENATOR
AMMON JACOBSMEYER
Masters Business Administration

While graduate senator I will promote a better bridge of communication between graduate students and graduate programs offered at Southern Utah University.  Graduate students will be notified of career fairs, employment opportunities and school activities; preparing graduates for the workforce.  While in office my plans include preparing students to achieve employment while attending career fairs.  This project will be realized by offering graduate students workshops on preparation of resume building and writing, as well as proper dress while attending career fairs and future job interviews.  Career fairs are a way to meet people and see what companies offer.  In the future, these career fairs will be used as on-site interviewing for potential employment.  Students and employers will be prepared to conduct such juncture for hire.
Southern Utah University offers many opportunities for graduate students to further their employment and education.  These students will be informed and prepared for any opportunity brought upon them through networking, outside activities, as well as better corporate involvement.  The more success our current graduate students accomplish, the stronger our graduate programs will become: creating desire for future students of Southern Utah University and its graduate programs.

YOUR BUSINESS SENATOR
DALLEN SHAKESPEAR

As Business Senator of SUU, I will be working to increase the validity of the name that appears on YOUR diploma. SUU’s business program has seen continual growth, recognition, and success in the business world.  There is still room for improvement.  Next year we will capture and realize a great deal of that potential by creating opportunities.  This can be accomplished by working more with SUU alumni to increase recruitment by their corporations from their alma mater, our playground for growth and edification, Southern Utah University.

As YOUR representative to the department directors in the School of Business, you can rest assured that if you have something you want initiated or resolved; it will be done. Keeping the focus:  always in the best interest of You the students, and YOUR current and future successes.  Know that your education and future is in great hands – hands that create opportunities – opportunities that create enjoyable, stable future employment.

YOUR EDUCATION SENATOR
NICOLE ROYLANCE

As a sophomore here at Southern Utah University, I have been working towards my education degree for almost two years. As I have come to know the professors and the program, I have grown a great respect for how this University values the education department along with the community and their support in the efforts to increase the standard for a better education process for the leaders of tomorrow. I have a great passion for education and for the betterment of the teachers that will be entering into the field and I hope to instill that passion and love I have for teaching in my fellow students as we are to become the foundation for all schooling. Every person has to start somewhere and we are building the relationships and love for students who will be going on to become someone who has great potential and success. I hope to continue those efforts and build on the great things that have been put before me and continue to keep the traditions and values of this program.

YOUR HSS SENATOR
DILLON ROSDAHL

As a second year English Major I will improve the HSS College. It’s as simple as this: we’re going to see a positive improvement in the college. My goals are focused on better helping students help themselves. Qualified representatives will be chosen to ensure success in each of the different departments with in the HSS College. Working with faculty and professors, we will make progress in each department. Students will play an active role in discovering the individual needs for each department. As your HSS senator I will see to it that the resources that each student needs are made available. Finding internships and career opportunities will be apart of the focus for my term. My diligent work ethic and diverse background in leadership will enhance your experience at SUU. This is your college, your education and Your Party.

YOUR SCIENCE/ ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY SENATOR
JAKE FAUSETT

My goals as Science Senator are first and foremost to continue to build the bridge of communication and understanding between the Science students and the faculty and staff at SUU. Mike Hunter has built an incredible relationship bridge with the Science department this last year. I plan to continue to provide representation for the Science students with the continuation of department representatives. At SUU we care about YOUR opinion and want to make sure YOUR voice is heard, especially in the college of Science.
With this relationship I want to build off of SUUSA’s foundation of involvement in Academic Activities. We have many departments that focus solely on getting students better opportunities for success. As a Senator I want to enhance these experiences and enrich our education experience outside of the classroom through involvement in these programs.
SUUSA has been given YOUR student fees and in return we want to provide you with better opportunities to build YOUR Science careers. Therefore I want to increase the effectiveness of the Academic activities on campus, ensure the proper use of student fees, and empower the voice of student’s in the college of Science. While at the same time providing additional ways in which Science students can get involved and take part in YOUR SUU

YOUR PVA SENATOR
DORY PEACOCK

As senator my top priorities would be more support for PVA clubs and activities, and greater awareness of school activities and events by PVA students. Over the last three years I have observed that the College of Performing and Visual Arts seems disconnected from the school in some ways. Most students don’t seem to be aware when plays and dance concerts are performing on campus or when visual arts displays are being exhibited. Likewise, many CPVA students seem to be out of touch with school activities. As senator I would endeavor to bridge the gap between CPVA students and SUUSA. I would make it my goal to show how each can benefit from the other. I would also try to raise support for CPVA activities among the student body. I would also do all I could to further the ideals outlined in my party’s platform.

This is YOUR school; I want to help you make it YOUR own.
